How to Communicate Concerns

Guidelines for Effective Communication in the Columbia Borough School District

At CBSD, we are committed to fostering productive relationships and efficient communication with all stakeholders - employees, students, parents, and the wider community. To achieve this, we have established the following guidelines as the proper flow of communication for addressing questions and concerns.

These guidelines serve to inform CBSD members where to begin the communication sequence when faced with an issue or concern. For many questions, the best approach is to communicate directly with the educator in charge of the class or program. Each situation should be addressed at the level where the initial action was taken, with appeals moving up the chain of command as necessary. Communication can be done via email, phone call, or face-to-face meetings, depending on the circumstances.
