The following identify areas of focus for the 2019-2020 School Year. No specific order

Focus Area 1 - Student Pathways

  • Engage students in career opportunities
  • Every student from grade 1 to 12 will be engaged in career opportunities and have a meaningful interaction 2 times per year
  • Every student and parent/guardian will engage with a counselor for a pathway discussion

FOCUS AREA 2 - PARENT ENGAGEMENT

  • Increase opportunities for parents/family to engage with educators and administrators with their children
  • Positive interaction with parents/families through communications

FOCUS AREA 3 - COMMUNICATIONS

  • Increase communications to all community stakeholders
  • Increase communication to parents/families
  • Increase internal communications to staff

FOCUS AREA 4 - CURRICULUM

  • Increase Pacing guides and written Curriculum
  • Literacy curriculum for every Elementary class
  • Decrease number of days teachers are out of classrooms for Curriculum writing
  • Data-informed decision making
  • Coordination of curricular/extra-curricular STEM and STEAM programs

FOCUS AREA 5 - SPECIAL EDUCATION

  • Continued emphasis on classes returned to District
  • Mentor new Director for positive input in the District
  • Improve out-of-District placements

FOCUS AREA 6 - SECURITY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

  • Review District Emergency Guidelines, Emergency/Hazard Operations Plan, Crisis Response Manual
  • Increase Drills, Table Top Training, and training
  • Plan active shooter drill with Columbia Police

FOCUS AREA 7 - FINANCIAL

  • Increase opportunities for students with additional grant funding
  • Maintain financial stability of the District while strengthening reserves
  • Review opportunities for savings without impacting education
